Member Spotlight: Meet Meadow

Out There Social Club is an ASU student organization with one main goal:
to make it easier for students to spend time with their friends.

The club tackles two common barriers to going out:

• Difficulty finding activities
• The high cost of many social outings

By suggesting curated outings and providing exclusive member-only discounts to you and your friend group, Out There helps students easily plan activities together.

Since its founding in Spring 2023, the club has continued to grow and evolve each semester — expanding its reach and refining the support it offers to the ASU community.

Meet Meadow

Meadow, an ASU Barrett Honors student studying computer science, had the opportunity to step away from her usual coursework and apply her skills in a more community-focused setting through Out There Social Club.

As part of her Barrett Honors coursework, she contributed across multiple areas, including:

• Identifying and promoting new outings
• Collaborating on marketing efforts
• Supporting student outreach

Her work included:

• Developing engaging social media content
• Connecting with potential sponsors
• Experimenting with AI tools to optimize gathering local events

What’s New

To further simplify finding things to do, Meadow and the team introduced:

These platforms give members one easy-to-navigate place to:

• Browse exclusive deals
• Discover curated outings

New Feature

Members and local businesses can now:

• Suggest outings
• Propose deals

Submissions are reviewed by Out There’s leadership team and may be added to the platform — expanding offerings while encouraging community participation.

Out There Challenge

To wrap up the semester, we hosted the Out There Challenge — rewarding friends for spending time together.

Throughout the semester:

• Friend groups posted their outings
• Shared how they were making the most of their time together

The Prize

The winning group (based on engagement and event participation) received:

An all-expenses-paid staycation at The Graduate by Hilton Tempe

This challenge brought the mission to life:

Making social experiences more accessible, fun, and consistent for ASU students.
